There are four kinds of installation methods for the external clamp ultrasonic flowmeter. They are V method, Z method, N method and W method.
V-method installation
The V method is a relatively standard installation method, which is convenient to use and accurate to measure. During installation, the two sensors are aligned horizontally, and the center line is horizontal with the pipe axis. The diameter range of the pipe can be measured is DN15mm-DN400mm.
Z-method installation
When the pipeline is very thick or due to the presence of suspended solids in the liquid, the scale on the inner wall of the pipe is too thick or the lining is too thick, the V method installation signal is weak and the machine cannot work normally, it is necessary to choose the Z method installation. The characteristic of the Z method is that the ultrasonic wave is transmitted directly in the pipeline, without reflection (called mono), and the signal decay is small. The Z method can be measured from 100mm to 6000mm.
N-method installation
The N method is characterized by extending the ultrasonic transmission distance to improve the measurement accuracy. When the N-method is used for installation, the ultrasonic beam is reflected twice in the pipe and passes through the fluid three times (called triple path), which is suitable for measuring small-diameter pipes.
W method mounting
The W method, like the N method, also improves the measuring accuracy of small tube diameter by extending the ultrasonic transmission distance. The W method is suitable for measuring tubules less than 50mm. When installed using the W method, the ultrasonic beam is reflected in the tube three times and passes through the fluid four times (called a quadrivalent path).
Under normal circumstances, the installation pipe diameter in the range of DN15-200mm can be preferred V method, the V method can be used when the signal is not detected or the signal quality is poor, and the Z method should be preferred when the pipe diameter is above DN200mm or the measurement of cast iron pipe. The N method and the W method are less used methods, which are suitable for the installation of thin pipes under DN50mm.
