1. Measurement Accuracy: Select the appropriate measurement accuracy based on actual requirements. If high precision is needed, a pipe segment type ultrasonic flowmeter can be chosen; if the precision requirement is not high, an insert type ultrasonic flowmeter can be selected.
2. Installation Method: Based on the actual conditions of the pipeline and the installation requirements, select the appropriate installation method. If the pipe diameter is large or the installation space is limited, an insert-type ultrasonic flowmeter can be chosen; if the pipeline pressure is below 1.6 MPa, an insert-type ultrasonic flowmeter can also be selected.
3. Maintenance Requirements: Consider the ease of maintenance and cleaning. If regular maintenance and cleaning are required, an insert-type ultrasonic flowmeter can be chosen; if the maintenance requirements are not high, a pipe segment-type ultrasonic flowmeter can be selected.
4. Fluid properties and temperature/pressure range: Take into account the properties of the fluid (such as corrosion resistance, viscosity, etc.) as well as the temperature and pressure range. Select the appropriate material and structure for the ultrasonic flowmeter to ensure the accuracy and stability of the measurement.
5. Installation Location: For insert-type ultrasonic flowmeters, select a pipe section that is filled with fluid, has uniform material, and is conducive to ultrasonic transmission, such as vertical or horizontal pipe sections. The installation distance should be chosen as an undisturbed straight pipe section with an upstream distance greater than 10 times the pipe diameter and a downstream distance greater than 5 times the pipe diameter, away from valves, pumps, high-voltage electricity, and frequency converters and other interference sources.
6. Pipeline Conditions: Before installing the insert-type ultrasonic flowmeter, it is necessary to inspect the inner wall condition of the pipeline under test. Severe scaling and corrosion should be avoided as these factors can affect signal transmission and the accuracy of the pipeline inner diameter, thereby impacting the measurement accuracy. If the pipeline material cannot be directly welded, a professional pipe clamp needs to be provided as a supplement.
7. Installation Position of Sensors: The sensor of the insert-type ultrasonic flowmeter should be installed on the straight line on the side of the pipeline, avoiding the influence of bubbles at the top or sediment at the bottom. Generally, it should be installed in horizontal, inclined or vertical pipelines. For vertical pipelines, the section with the flow from bottom to top should be selected.
