Handheld flow meters are widely used in various fields such as industrial production, environmental monitoring, and water conservancy projects due to their portability, accuracy, and ease of operation. Handheld flow meters can directly measure the flow velocity and flow rate of fluids, helping users to monitor the dynamic changes of the medium in the pipeline in real time, thereby improving production and management efficiency. To fully utilize the performance advantages of handheld flow meters and ensure the accuracy of measurement data and the long-term stable operation of the instrument, it is crucial to follow specifications and pay attention to details during operation. The following details the key points to note when using a handheld flow meter.

1. Before operation, carefully check the appearance of the instrument and all connecting parts to ensure there is no damage or looseness.

As a precision instrument, any mechanical vibration or collision may affect the performance of its internal sensors. Regular calibration of the equipment is also an important part of ensuring measurement accuracy. It is recommended to develop a calibration plan according to the manufacturer's instructions and working environment to ensure that the flow meter is in the best measurement state before each use.

2. When using a handheld ultrasonic flow meter for flow measurement, special attention should be paid to the problem of bubbles and impurities in the measurement medium.

Ultrasonic flow meters are widely used in flow monitoring in heating networks, water supply systems, and industrial processes due to their non-contact and non-invasive measurement advantages. However, if there are bubbles or solid impurities in the fluid, it will interfere with the propagation of the ultrasonic signal, thereby affecting the measurement accuracy of the flow meter.

 

Bubbles, as a discontinuous phase in the fluid, will cause scattering and reflection of the ultrasonic signal, reducing the stability and consistency of sound wave propagation, causing distortion of the signal waveform received by the sensor, and thus affecting the accuracy of flow calculation. Similarly, impurity particles in the pipeline may also scatter ultrasonic waves, leading to signal energy loss and indirectly interfering with the measurement results. Therefore, to ensure that the measurement data of the handheld ultrasonic flow meter is highly accurate and reliable, it is advisable to avoid measuring in areas with many bubbles and impurities before operation.

3. When conducting flow measurement work, scientifically and rationally selecting the measurement point and installation method is a key step in ensuring data accuracy and measurement effectiveness.

First, the type of fluid, pipe diameter, and flow velocity should be fully considered, and a representative and stable measurement point should be selected based on the on-site working conditions. Different types of fluids differ in their flow characteristics and viscosity; therefore, the measurement points should be preferentially selected in areas with uniform flow and stable flow velocity to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the measurement data.

4. Safety operating procedures should be followed during use.

Appropriate protective measures should be selected based on the properties of the medium (such as temperature, pressure, and chemical composition), and necessary personal protective equipment should be worn to ensure the safety of the operators. The operating environment of the flow meter should avoid strong electromagnetic interference or drastic environmental changes as much as possible to reduce instrument errors and the risk of damage.
