At present, the main flow meters used in our country are: differential pressure type, displacement type, rotor type, turbine type, electromagnetic type and ultrasonic type. These flowmeters have their own characteristics. In recent years, in flow measurement, especially in large diameter flowmeters, ultrasonic flowmeters have gradually replaced the original differential pressure flowmeters, turbine flowmeters and electromagnetic flowmeters. The reason is mainly because the ultrasonic flowmeter has the following advantages:
1、Easy installation and maintenance
Ultrasonic flow calculation other flow meters are easy to install, especially for large diameter metering systems, this advantage is more obvious, can save a lot of manpower and material resources. In recent years, with the widespread use of clamp-on sensors, ultrasonic flow meters can be installed and maintained without drilling holes in the pipe or cutting off the flow.

The maximum measuring pipe diameter of the ultrasonic flowmeter can reach 10m, which is unmatched by other flowmeters. At the same time, the price of ultrasonic flowmeters is not affected by the diameter of the pipe, and other flowmeters, the larger the diameter of the pipe, the higher the price.
3、High measurement reliability
Whether the ultrasonic flowmeter is installed with external clamps or wet installation, it basically does not affect the flow field, no moving parts, and no pressure loss. At the same time, the sensor takes the microcomputer as the center, adopts the phase-locked loop or the new timing method, solves the influence of signal attenuation, noise interference and circuit fault, so that the measurement has a high reliability.
4、Unaffected by fluid parameters
The measurement of ultrasonic flowmeter is not affected by the physical properties and parameters of the fluid (such as roughness, conductivity, etc.), and the output has a good linear relationship with the flow rate. Therefore, the measurement range is large, up to 10:1 or higher.
5、Easy access to the automatic control system
The work of the flowmeter can be automatically controlled by the computer, and the measurement results can be automatically displayed and printed. With a standard universal interface, output standard DC signal, so it can be directly networked with the computer monitoring system.
