The FT201 brings the modern technology of Flowt's FT equipment range to the clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter. The W 400 clamping unit and the I 400 insertion unit provide comprehensive process monitoring with long-term cost-effectiveness and extensive diagnostic capabilities. These sensors are paired with Endress+Hauser's Proline 400 transmitters to provide a complete flow metering solution.


For decades, users in many process industries have turned to ultrasonic clip-on instruments for convenient flow measurement. This trend continues, but the demand for instrument data continues to grow. The FT201 solves this and other problems by providing reliable measurement of process parameters along with a wealth of additional information.


The flowmeter uses a non-invasive clip-on measurement method with its ultrasonic sensor mounted directly outside the pipe. This provides safe measurements of many fluids regardless of their conductivity or other properties. This includes corrosive, abrasive and toxic fluids, making this flowmeter ideal for monitoring countless processes.


Retrofits with clip-on flowmeters can easily be used at any time, as neither the piping nor the process flow will be interrupted. They are suitable for low or high pressure applications, pipes less than 1" in diameter and up to 160" in diameter, such as water distribution pipes.


This size range illustrates the versatility of the FT201 measurement solution. It can be used to measure flow, monitor processes, verify previously installed flow meters, detect leaks in pipelines, and other applications.


The flowmeter's IP68 Type 6P submerged ultrasonic sensor provides long-term reliable operation with little or no maintenance. This makes them suitable for harsh process and environmental conditions and can withstand temperatures from –40 to +266 °F.


Web server simplifies installation and operation

The FT201 transmitter includes a built-in web server so users can access process, diagnostics, configuration and other instrument data from any device capable of hosting a web browser, such as a laptop, smartphone or tablet.


The transmitters provide targeted parameterization of the measuring point and save time during commissioning, maintenance and service. Both its LCD display and web-based operating tools show real-time measurement quality - good, acceptable or poor - to provide key status information at a glance.


FT201 function enables high performance in the presence of flow disturbances

Piping systems in the process industry often have multiple joints and elbows that interfere with flow distribution and, in turn, the accuracy of ultrasonic flow measurements. The Prosonic Flow W 400 solution is optionally available with Flowt's FlowDC feature, which detects and corrects the effects of flow disturbances. This ensures measurement accuracy even in the presence of short pipe inlet operations, such as when pipe diameters are significantly reduced from the standard 15 to two. The FlowDC feature adds flexibility to equip new or retrofitted systems with clamp-on flowmeters.


Heartbeat technology improves measurement integrity

Heartbeat Technology, a test function integrated into all Endress+Hauser Proline measuring devices, provides instrument self-diagnosis as well as traceable measurement verification during operation. This technology monitors changes in instrument electronics and sensors due to extreme environmental or process conditions, improving measurement integrity.


Works with almost any application

The Flowt Flow FT201 can be installed on a variety of pipe types and materials, with or without lining, including metals (such as steel or cast iron), plastics, fiberglass-reinforced plastics, and composites. The maintenance-free contact medium, called the coupling pad, provides optimum sound transmission between the sensor surface and the pipe, and the resulting high signal strength ensures stable measurement results and long-term reliability. These clamp-on flow sensors are available for a variety of ultrasonic frequencies from 0.3 to 5 MHz and are optimized for the application pipe size, pipe material and fluid.
